Compared with other real estate sectors, the logistics and industrial real estate industry is still relatively young. It has only become established as a distinct asset class over the past two decades. While sufficient sites were once readily available, companies now face entirely new challenges: a shortage of suitable land, rising sustainability requirements, complex permitting processes, and the growing importance of data and technology.
The industry itself is changing as a result. New expertise is in demand—from brownfield regeneration and digital planning to data-driven location decisions. At the same time, education and research are becoming increasingly professionalised: new degree programmes and specialisations are helping to develop the next generation of professionals in this segment.
The panel will discuss how the industry is changing structurally—and which skills, strategies and investments will be critical in the future.
