North Rhine-Westphalia has created important prerequisites for advancing the use of geothermal energy through its Geothermal Energy Master Plan, new geological data foundations, and targeted support services. Initial concrete projects are now showing how these foundations can be translated into project development.
Where do the projects stand? Which decisions and framework conditions are helping them move forward, where do obstacles remain, and what next steps are required? This programme item combines the state-level perspective with concrete practical experience and looks at what is needed to turn geothermal potential into viable heating projects.
